The DWP have announced that the one-off, £150 cost of living payment will be paid to a range of disability benefit claimants from 20 September, with the “vast majority” getting paid by the beginning of October.

The £150 is being paid on top of other cost of living payments totalling £650, £400 for all households to help with energy bills, and an extra £150 for properties in Council Tax bands A-D in England.

Over eight million eligible households in receipt of one of a range of means-tested benefit received the first of two automatic cost of living payments of £326 from 14 July. The second means-tested payment of £324 will be issued later this year.

Claimants likely to be eligible for the £150 payment are those in receipt of:

  • Disability Living Allowance,
  • Personal Independence Payment,
  • Attendance Allowance,
  • Adult Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Child Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment,
  • Constant Attendance Allowance,
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement.

Those who had confirmed payment of their disability benefit for 25 May are expected to be paid shortly after the payment window opens.

For those awaiting confirmation of their disability benefits on 25 May, or who are waiting to be assessed for eligibility to receive disability benefits, the process may take longer but payments will still be automatic.

Full details of eligibility for the £150 cost of living payment are on the .gov.uk website.

@jez There is a list of the entitlement benefits that will allow you to get the payment on the report . So you have to look to see if your benefit or income benefit is included in the list . Tbh I do not think I saw lcrwa on the list

@Mart It could be with your Payment but it does state from the 20 th of September so could be anytime of the day or night you receive it. It is up untill October the payments will be paid . If you have online banking and don't have notification set on there I don't know then you can set it up so you will get a notification of when it has gone into your account and you won't have to keep checking it can be any time 🙂 I really do hope you get it along with everyone else

@Mart What about those that have had a pip payment for September and for instance next payment is after 2nd October, as apparently that's the deadline,  it's not paid with normal payment,  its separate

I see that carers who have had to give up paid work in order to save our country large amounts of money have also been left out of the payment awards.  Add this to the insult that as my husband is not in receipt of his old age pension, but he can't work due to early onset Dementia, so we miss out on all the other heating/warm home benefits.

@Steve I agree, cost of living payment should be for everyone,

@Angela Of course if you have equity instead there's no issue which is a bit of a scandal in itself. I'm not saying though that anyone should be penalised.

It just makes you feel like you're being targetted for being careful with money over the years.

@F1 People on income based ESA have worked too. I'm losing £32/week because of my savings and have been for the last year and every time my savings change by £250 I have to send my bank statements into the DWP which is ia bit of a pain in the ass.

Technically you also run the risk of commiting fraud if you're not careful.

@Angela The disabled cost of living payment is nothing to do with contributions based,  it's the 650 pound one that is, the 150 pound has nothing to do with esa jsa, ect, its pip, dla, attendance allowance,  mod disabled payment.
    • Thank you for your comment. Comments are moderated before being published.

@Steve That's because you could have thousands under your matress,  contributions based, means you have worked, work, equals savings or capital,  however in a reply to another poster, the 150 pound disabled payment can be paid to millionaires but if your on cb esa not entitled to normal cost of living payment.
