The DWP have announced that the one-off, £150 cost of living payment will be paid to a range of disability benefit claimants from 20 September, with the “vast majority” getting paid by the beginning of October.

The £150 is being paid on top of other cost of living payments totalling £650, £400 for all households to help with energy bills, and an extra £150 for properties in Council Tax bands A-D in England.

Over eight million eligible households in receipt of one of a range of means-tested benefit received the first of two automatic cost of living payments of £326 from 14 July. The second means-tested payment of £324 will be issued later this year.

Claimants likely to be eligible for the £150 payment are those in receipt of:

  • Disability Living Allowance,
  • Personal Independence Payment,
  • Attendance Allowance,
  • Adult Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Child Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment,
  • Constant Attendance Allowance,
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement.

Those who had confirmed payment of their disability benefit for 25 May are expected to be paid shortly after the payment window opens.

For those awaiting confirmation of their disability benefits on 25 May, or who are waiting to be assessed for eligibility to receive disability benefits, the process may take longer but payments will still be automatic.

Full details of eligibility for the £150 cost of living payment are on the .gov.uk website.

DWP has confirmed that a number of payments will arrive before Friday, September 23 but that the vast majority will be made from Monday, September 26. If you are eligible for the payment, the £150 will land in your bank account automatically - there’s no need to contact DWP about it...

Should make their minds up then.

@F1 Yep they won't have started the BACS until Tuesday and you don't count that day so it would only get Wednesday-Friday then weekend and clear day would be Monday.  Bit of a shame I could have done with this money this week, next week it's PIP day so it would be as needed next week as this.

BACS payments typically take three days to clear. Here’s how the process works:

Day 1: The Bacs payment request is submitted.

Day 2: The recipient bank receives the payment request.

Day 3: The transaction is settled, and funds cleared to the recipient account.

What’s important to remember for those

Also if it was bacs, why would money clear at random times? There's a list online that tells you the times money clears, usually between midnight and one am, thats another wierd thing..

@Guy Or unless you was due to be paid on a Friday before a bank holiday,  I rang once, think it was Easter,  the computer had not paid people early, so lady paid it within three hours, ...it is after midnight not at anytime in the day, although some clear at six or 9 am if nothing in by I'd say 9.30am then it's the day after. It'll be tomorrow at the earliest,  I've had dealings with them for 35 years on and off, never hav I heard anything ridiculous about clearing at random times, it's a tactic to stop people ringing,  although I did think about it, the more I thought about it, I thought naaa,  dwp do work in weird ways, I don't even think a psychiatric doctor would understand them. Ha.

@F1 Forgot to say but if I had to guess I bet the DWP did not set any BACS payments off until this Tuesday past due to the bank holiday that's why I think it will be Friday or Monday at earliest.

@F1 Yes I also don't buy into the clearing during the day at any time. In all my years the only time a payment goes into bank is shortly after midnight. If it does not go then its always 24 hours later.

@Michelle Guy... mentioned yesterday that bacs payments can take 4 to five days, if that's true, then the payments would have gone in for some on the 12th or 13th to clear on Tuesday gone, if you count the bank holiday it's now Thursday 22,,  my understanding is payments take 3 working days, wether that's just for regular benefits im not sure, ....i was told this by dwp staff as i had to ring them with a query once, as i get esa on a Thursday the lady said it was paid today which was a Monday,  I'm only guessing but, we've had a bank holiday,  dwp go back to work,  paid it on Tues, count wed thu Fri, I think it'll be tomorrow. But no one presses a button it's automatically done, it is very strange, next Friday is the last working day of September,  so basically the government said the vast majority would have it by beginning of October. Beginning of October is next Saturday, so they saying most will have it by then, as banks do not clear on Weekends ,  also when you ring the number and you get the computer thing saying paid at anytime in the day, I believe there's a few porkys with that, it's to stop people ringing them. Hoping and keeping checking their bank.

Even if someone did ring them and asked,  they would not do anything as its not clased as a missing payment,  neither is it a benefit. I think they just keep people hanging on, the queen passed on the 8th, so if it was to clear from Tues 21, they have had time to sort it and put it in. Although not everyone.  Not one person I know has had it, I think come tomorrow,  (Friday) people will start getting it, if not, then something odd is going on.

@Chris If that's all you get, then no. You have to get a disability benefit to get the 150. If we get it. .

Hi Everyone, just to help with this. From a finance point of view there are 6 million payments being made in the UK for this £150 payment for disability. I am still awaiting mine also. But as much as we trust our banks and government it is all computer driven. Banking systems can only process so much in one go which is why they have advised anytime between 20th September to early October to receive this but more than likely sooner than October. DWP i think do three to five BACS runs a day. then it is subject to your banks clearance times generally next day. My guess DWP only do maybe 100,000 people a day and even with 5 payment runs till end of September this would be 5 million people receiving payments with remainder early October.

@Guy Yes, but I've rang the number, the automated message says paid at anytime in the day, we will just have to wait. Yet one person on this site stated they had it today. A bit odd.

@F1 Yes would make more sense. I think the truth of this is more likely everything is delayed due to the bank holiday weekend. I don't think anyone will start receiving until Friday or next Monday at the earliest with BACS taking I think 4/5 days to clear.

@Steph If your mum gets esa and it's income related, she will get cost of living of 650.

If your mum gets pip, dla, attendance allowance,  she is entitled to the 150, as stated in previous posts, esa and other benefits are irrelevant to the 150 disability payment. They are only relevant to the 650. Cb esa ect not entitled,  irrelevant related entitled. I know its confusing for some, but general benefits are irrelevant to the 150 disability payment.

I've just looked at a website which states, from tomorrow which was printed yesterday,  if the waiting period is 3 working days, you would count,  Friday if it was put in on Thurs,  Monday, Tues, but Monday was a bank holiday,  my gut feeling is, as no one who I know or anywhere on the Internet has had the payment,  it will be tomorrow because of the bank holiday,  but who knows,  if anyone receives it tomorrow could you please post on here, thanks,  I'll do the same,
