Hello

I just wanted to tell you, that I received that same letter after a telephone call to DWP, when I asked to appeal. It said, not to contact them again for 11 - 13 weeks, while they looked at the decision again.

However. I ignored that and kept sending them more information, and phoning to make sure they had received it.

I asked to see a copy of the doctor's report, and realised it had not been sent by my own doctor. The first report had been lost,so the DWP sent for another, but it was filled in by a doctor I see very rarely in the surgery. It was as much use as a chocolate fireguard. I then went to see my own doctor, who sent a letter of support.

Get as much information as you possibly can, and pick through the refusal letter and advise them on what they have got wrong. Always keep a note of what has been said, dates, times, and names of staff you speak to.

I thought it would take a lot longer for them, to look at my case again. However, from the refusal letter, to a phone call I made, to ask if they had my doctors letter, it took three weeks for a new decision.

So don't give up, and don't take much notice of those please dont contact us letters. How are you supposed to send them more information if you cant contact them.

Take care sweetie
Good Luck with your re-decision and appeal if it comes to that.

Thanx for your reply Jaxie

Thank you for your advise, i rang the DWP about the DLA and glad i did, they said they had no notes on the system that i wanted a copy of my doctors report. So i have requested it again, they also say they haven't recieved any additional information that i have sent! I track the letter on the post office website & its still pending, hopefully DWP will have it very soon? I've asked my Mental health advisor to write me a letter to support my claim, she agreed to it so hopefully it will be ready for me to collect at our session on friday.

I also connacted the DWP about my ESA, they have recieved my letter asking for an oral tribunal and have reinstated my benefit at the assessment rate, so atleast the ball is rolling on that one.

I'm so glad i found this site and have subscribe to it, the information given and the forums are great. Its so nice to know that i'm not the only one struggling with my health & this complex benefit system...

I would like to thank everyone for their help & will continue to write on this thread keeping you all updated with both my appeals.

OMG What now!

The DWP said there was no request for my GP's report but its just arrived??

He hasn't put very much information, the bit on the form that asks about the effects of the disabling conditions on day to day life he's put NO KNOW DIFFICULTIES And left any further detail blank!

What do i do now? He's put nothing about losing my job, nothing about me having suicidal thoughts, nothing about i self harm. I don't know what to do?

I'm quite a private person and don't really go into detail with my GP just mention things in passing, i don't think he realises how much my migraines & depression is effecting my life? I don't really want to moan about the report when i see him next tuesday coz maybe he really doesn't realise, as i try to hide my true feelings alot to the outside world. But the report doesn't really reflect my illnesses, any advice please?

I think you need to open up when you see your GP, if you can. If you don't feel comfortable see another one in the practice who you feel you could talk too. I am a private person too but I realise unless you talk to your GP they won't know what is going on in your life and won't be able to fill in forms properly about you. Perhaps keep a journal/diary of how your illness is affecting you both physically and mentally. Hope this helps

Hi,

By all means discuss with your counsellor, I don't know what sort of counsellor you are referring to, but can he/she submit further eivdence?

Yes your husband can send in a report about the effects, however I do not know what weight would be given to that evidence as I am thinking it could raise a 'well he is bound to say that' sort of situation which may reduce its weight evidence wise. On the other hand there is nothing to lose by sending it. Further and better evidence from your GP and counsellor would be far better though.
