Abolishment of 4 WCA Activities was created by fibrofred
Hello everyone!
Forgive me if this is not the right place to share my concerns as I don't know where else to do so.
I just wondered if anyone is as confused as I am about the upcoming consultation re Abolishing 4 ESA WCA Activities?
FIrstly, why is there a need to change any of the activities when the plan ahead is to abolish ESA WCAs altogether?
Secondly, if the DWP succeed in these drastic changes, will this mean the similar activities for PIP will also change?
I have just completed the WCA Worst Case test and would not qualify for either LCW or LCWRA - I am currently in LCWRA ESA Support Group. While trying not to dwell on the worst case, I fear this will leave many people, including myself in such a dire situation the outcome is just unthinkable.
Looking solely at their idea of abolishing the mobility activity. This will be severely detrimental to anyone who has any form of mobility issue and they are sure to suffer mentally if this is decided.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi fibrofred,
I hate to say it, but I think it's just another case of looking at ways they can save even more money.
It is so sad that it has to be this way, especially when it's people's lives that it's affecting.
Regards, Chris.

Exactly Chris!
Probably the biggest concern for now is that so many people are not aware of these proposals as, conveniently for DWP, it's not on many news outlets. In fact, I only heard about this through Benefits & Work!
Anyway, thanks for replying. Keeping fingers crossed for a sensible outcome.

I agree with Chris' assessment this is definitely a way to cost cut in the short term whilst they prepare for the major changes they have planned also there is the political aspect with an election looming and benefit cuts always bring joy to conservative hearts

Does anyone know what will happen to claimants who have recently been reassessed and found to have lcwra and remain in the support group?

And what will Labour be doing about this next absurbed idea of the tories ...nothing.
At best, its not going to be feasible at all and if they feel employers are going to be rushing to take long term uenmployed/ sick/disabled people on, their more deluded than I could have ever imagined.
The can mess with these assements and invent their stupid titles and slogans decade in and out and nothngs going to change.
Icing on the cake is their other pie in the sky dream of "we can now all work from home".
Their always good at ther idealistic dreams and slogans and short on positive outcomes. The last decade plus is evident of that.
The disruption they will cause to business across the UK should these numpties get this idea up and running will cost billions...in losses.
Still, we all can be Deliveroo bikers. Thats the new high wage, high skilled economy for 'EVERYONE'
Underlined would have done better to fix that with very specific training leading to real jobs for those still physically and mentally capable of doing, than waste time on idealsitic ideas blaming the disabled or unemployed for it. Forcing people to participate in work programmes etc, those being completely unsuitable for many imo, and in many ways. With a dia success rate as proof.
I attened a few and when i mentioned to employers id attended one the wondered what the hell it was. On further discussio when i explained they replied it didnt matter to them what programm or how long someone had spent on one.It was completely irrelevant.
One thing what will prodce a result is the damage this is going to do to peoples mental health on a large scale.
Thats my little rant.
