Figures released in response to a question by John Robertson MP show that there has been a fall in the number of successful appeals against a decision not to award DLA to claimants with chronic fatigue syndrome.
The figures are in relation to new DLA claims and show that in 2003 a total of 600 people successfully appealed against a decision not to award DLA for CFS. In 2004 that number had leapt to 900 successful appeals. In 2005 the number had fallen back to 800.
These figures are for new claims only, they do not cover appeals relating to renewal requests or to claims where an award was made but the claimant was unhappy with the level of the award.
