The DWP have announced late on Friday 23 September that most people will receive their £150 cost of living payment next week, rather than this week as had originally been expected.

When the DWP originally announced their timetable for payments they said that they would begin paying from 20 September.

However, whilst the department claims ‘some people have been paid this week’ Benefits and work has heard from just one person that they have received the payment and the story seems to be the same across many online forums.

The DWP still say that the vast majority of claimants will be paid by early October.

The latest announcement by the DWP was made in their Touchbase newsletter sent out at around 5pm.  It reads:

“Over the next few weeks, six million disabled people in the UK will receive a one-off £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment as part of the Government’s Help for Households support.  Those who had confirmed payment of their disability benefit for 25 May don’t need to do anything and will receive the £150 automatically by their usual payment method, with the vast majority to be paid by early October. While some people have been paid this week, the majority of people will be paid next week. Anyone who is awaiting a payment should therefore wait until early October before getting in touch with the Department.

“Our Disability Cost of Living Payment toolkit for stakeholders includes everything organisations need to communicate the Disability Cost of Living Payment with a range of resources such as easy read information sheets, suggested newsletter and social media copy, FAQs and a British Sign Language information video and wider Help for Households information.”

Claimants likely to be eligible for the £150 payment are those who, on 25 May, were eligible for:

  • Disability Living Allowance,
  • Personal Independence Payment,
  • Attendance Allowance,
  • Adult Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Child Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment,
  • Constant Attendance Allowance,
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement.

Finally got mine this morning -am on PIP. Good luck to all of those still waiting, I do hope it will be paid to everyone soon. The way this whole thing has been handled has been unforgiveably shambolic!
There is really no excues for the delay -it is well known (or should be) in all Govt Depts that if a monarch etc passes, then the funeral will take place roughly 10 days later. Now, even if the exact date isn't known, there was no excuse for not arranging it to have been paid the week beforehand and if it had been set up as it should have been anyway, the fact there was a Bank Holiday shouldn't have made much of a difference and at most a delay of two days, maybe three! Their It systems are programmed to pay thousands at the same time . It is down to human error/incompetence -many of us were relying on that money.

I wasn't paid the £150 last week when my PIP care package went in, and I haven't been paid it today when my IIDB went in.

Received mine this morning,  thank goodness,  it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things,  with interest rates just gone up and that's taken that to keep roof over my head...

I received the payment today. What is happening is not enough, especially for those of us on pip. None of the three major political parties care about us, any of us. Look at how the homeless are treated in comparison to the 4* hotel dinghy immigrants get. Most of our homeless have mental health issues. I was made homeless twice, I have mental health issues and since Cameron brought out the austerity, I no longer get any support. I used to get a visit or phone call every week, since then nothing. DWP has been messed up for yrs, even before IDS screwed it up and its getting worse.

Received mine yesterday, (£150), and all previous support payments on time.

I also have to say - to give credit where it is due - my last Assessment (for PIP) was the best ever - by miles.

It was by phone (Covid), and I spoke to a qualified CPN , Who completely "got" my Bipolar1, and was extremely sensitive and understanding regarding my physical ailments too (Severe Arthritis, hypothyroid, hypertension, and various side effects).

I was granted maximum Mobility and Care elements - I've never received maximum Mobility before - without any fuss or having to appeal.

Just to let ppl know, it's not always bad - there is hope!
