The DWP have announced late on Friday 23 September that most people will receive their £150 cost of living payment next week, rather than this week as had originally been expected.

When the DWP originally announced their timetable for payments they said that they would begin paying from 20 September.

However, whilst the department claims ‘some people have been paid this week’ Benefits and work has heard from just one person that they have received the payment and the story seems to be the same across many online forums.

The DWP still say that the vast majority of claimants will be paid by early October.

The latest announcement by the DWP was made in their Touchbase newsletter sent out at around 5pm.  It reads:

“Over the next few weeks, six million disabled people in the UK will receive a one-off £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment as part of the Government’s Help for Households support.  Those who had confirmed payment of their disability benefit for 25 May don’t need to do anything and will receive the £150 automatically by their usual payment method, with the vast majority to be paid by early October. While some people have been paid this week, the majority of people will be paid next week. Anyone who is awaiting a payment should therefore wait until early October before getting in touch with the Department.

“Our Disability Cost of Living Payment toolkit for stakeholders includes everything organisations need to communicate the Disability Cost of Living Payment with a range of resources such as easy read information sheets, suggested newsletter and social media copy, FAQs and a British Sign Language information video and wider Help for Households information.”

Claimants likely to be eligible for the £150 payment are those who, on 25 May, were eligible for:

  • Disability Living Allowance,
  • Personal Independence Payment,
  • Attendance Allowance,
  • Adult Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Child Disability Payment (Scotland),
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment,
  • Constant Attendance Allowance,
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement.

I just received mine this morning via bank app. I was surprised as I didn't expect the second payment to come so soon in the autumn. i thought it would come later. A bit of mess if there's confusion from DWP when we're all meant to be paid this.

Having so much trouble with ESA dept that they are saying I have too much money (only ESA and DWP) and nowhere near £16k savings - when my son was 10 he opened a Junior Saver account and had money from an inheritance in there then a divorce settlement came through for ex pension of £22k straight in to his account - ESA are saying it is mine as payment is in my name but Pension Company would not change the name when my son was 18 and he never changed his account with Nationwide - it was always a young saver account - he is going on a round the world trip and withdrew the money to pay for his tickets and hotels etc - he withdrew it in cash and I went with him.  He is not close to me at the moment and I have no contact with him unless he rings me - he moved flat and I dont even have his address & he changed his number so I am truly on my own, it     it was written in to the divorce papers by the judge and my solicitor that the pension payment of my ex will be for my son as I was working and earning a good salary, worked hard to pay off my mortgage and then  5 months later had a mental breakdown due to stress and was diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety. multi-strand PTSD - along with a lifelong disability due to the NHS putting a dirty needle in to my spine when I had my son 22 years ago, only page missing from my notes was the aneathetist page - so could take it to court but would have cost £17k to just get it to court doors, applied for DLA several years after as I have no knowledge on any kind of benefits, I was checked by a doctor and he said he will confirm that I would get Lifelong DLA as I am crippled with pain, cannot walk without sticks, cannot do so many things I used to before the NHS botch up.  I have also had 2 strokes but thank God it has only affected my memory and things like numbers, adding, working out shopping etc.  I do not know what to do about the ESA and I am so scared of getting in to trouble with them, I just about manage my bills and Maintanence fees the Council Charge every year for doing nothing although according to them they are constantly improving the building.  They insulated the building about 5 years ago and charged the Private Residents £10k each but nothing charged for the Council Residents - the Council no longer answers any calls, you cannot reach them and the offices are empty, not even furniture - they charge over £1000 a year even when we were locked down.  I cannot cope with the pressure from the ESA and feel that the only thing left for me to do is end it all as I cannot cope with their evil phone calls where they treat me like a criminal - which I am far from that.
I have only received a C O L  PAYMENT on July 15th from ESA but nothing from DLA - they told me that as I have a lifetime award they will not change me over to PIP and although I have gotten a lot worse with my disability and health including loss of hearing and bad vision even after cataract operation I know if I call them they will change me to PIP and I cannot cope with yet another department trying to leave me with not even enough money to eat, heat or live anymore.
IF ANYONE CAN OFFER ANY HELP PLEASE, PLEASE, GET IN TOUCH WITH ME AS I AM AT MY WITS END AND AS I CANNOT LEAVE MY 1ST FLOOR FLAT I AM A PRISONER IN MY OWN HOME AS THE COUNCIL REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO PUT A STAIR LIFT IN TO HELP ME GET DOWN THE STAIRS AND TO MY CAR TO GET OUT - I AM DYING IN HERE AND I AM ONLY 60....I DONT WANT TO BE HERE ANYMORE AND HAVE TRIED SELLING UP SO PUT IT ON THE MARKET 2 WEEKS AGO AND NOW EVERYTHING HAS GONE WRONG WITH BANKS GIVING MONEY FOR MORTGAGES ETC - PLEASE HELP ME I AM A MEMBER AND I NEED YOUR SUPPORT AND KINDNESS AS I KNOW YOU ARE ALL GOING THROUGH YOUR OWN HELL AND IF ANYONE CAN OFFER HELP AND ADVICE I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL.  THANKYOU, CARLA   😭😭😭😭😱😱
