The first question that should be asked is how can ATOS, a software house, be doing its own internal training on disability assessment? The answer is it can't - so who is doing this exactly? We can't FOI this as it's a private company. Any ideas?

I've seen several copies of the training materials for ATOS HCPs, which I think were the result of a FOI Request.

They do their own training using materials, certified as adequate by the DWP.

Hello everyone, I was refused DLA last year, when DWP used the previous years IB medical to refuse me. I I've just checked the GP register, to find the Doctor at that medical is registered without license to practice, meaning he is not allowed to carry out actual medical procedures!

Found this website www.whywaitforever.com/dwpatos.html

With the heading "DWP ESA medical examinations

Go down the page until you find the heading (typed in red)

ESA Medical Examination - Tort of Negligence

It would appear that the HCP reads your completed form, and decides whether or not they need to give you a face to face assessment. I thought the DWP decided whether you needed a medical, not an Atos HCP

This website seems to suggest ways of checking the HCP's competence and qualifications. Anyway, well worth a look.
