Atos Doctors was created by polly
Hi

Does anyone know if the Atos doctor who carries out the medical (my daughter recently had one) has to be on the GP or Specialist GMC register? The Doctor is on there, but is not on the GP register or the specialist register and has a complaint against him.

Many thanks for any help

Given that you can be assessed by a nurse or even a physiotherapist, I doubt that the doctors have to have any specialities.

The Atos 'doctor' I saw in London had very limited language skills (despite English being his first language). I don't think you would have a chance of getting a medical degree with a vocabularly of 'is it tho' and 'is it'!

Yes, it does not have to be a GP, but ATOS have certain practices as regards which sort of cases must be seen by a doctor. However, the original poster says the doctor was NOT registered.

They should be registered and I advise checking if was indeed a Physiotherapist or other, and then check to see if THEY are registered

However, I do not beleive ATOS would knowingly employ a non registered professional

I looked up the name of the 'independent tier' doctor who reviewed a complex complaint i made against Atos Healthcare a few years ago.

Is it too much of a coincidence that he has the same name as a doctor who works for Unum (bearing in mind i think there is only one doctor 'of working-age' registered with that name)?

Questions should be asked about a lack of transparency on the part of Atos (as i understand they are secretive about the company they use).

If Atos are using Unum as evidence suggests - questions should also be asked about that company. Questions concerning impartiality, conflict of interest and indeed 'the independent status' of a company heavily involved in the welfare reform process.
