I am a bit confused, Gordon!

How can I be "re-assessed and my ESA claim extended" when I have just been assessed!! Do you mean appeal for re-assessment? And if I leave things as is, won't my ESA claim just carry on?

Sorry for being dense!!

Shirley

Sorry if my post wasn't clear.

What I meant was that in 6-9 months, rather than going for a WFI and being passed onto the Work Programme, the decision might be to re-asses you, hopefully extending your ESA claim for a further period.

I hope this explains it better.

Thanks for claifying, Gordon.

One further question, if you are in the WRAG does that come to an end at some point? I thought you stayed in that group, going for WFI as and when required until a couple of years down the line your claim is looked at again, but in reality is your ESA claim re-assessed every few months ? Is that the same in the support group?

So much to learn!!

Hi Shirley, I,ve been put on WRAG with no medical, just heard today. Not sure whether I'm happy or sad, or whether to appeal the decision as I am sick of forms and medical documents.I think they are trying to wear everybody down into submission.

Hi Shirley,

Unfortunately whether in the WRAG, or Support Group, claimants are being re-assessed, at varying intervals.

One would expect a longer review period if placed in The Support Group though.

The only way to find out an expected review date, (prognosis) whether for WRAG or Support, is to request either your ESA85, report after having a face to face assessment, or ESA85a if put in to either group, without having a face to face assessment.

This is why it is known as "The ESA Merrygoround".

Hopes this adds some clarity to what Gordon has already told you.

cheers

Sbirley

ESA re-assessment periods can be quite varied, 24 months is right at the upper limit and is very very rare, 12 months for serious disabilities is slighly more common, with most claimants being re-assesed every 6-9 months, a few unlucky ones are being looked at every 4-6 months.

Just because you are in the WRAG now doesn't mean you won't be moved to the Support Group after a future assessment, or vice versa.

And if that sounds confusing, I'm afraid it often is :)

Thanks Gordon and bro58 for explaining further.

I think I can only hope for a lottery win to escape this "merry go round" while I still have one nerve-ending left!!!
