As a footnote I find our society so deficient in providing care in the community when our so called government tries to say they care.Trying to put the burden of care on others seems to me to be almost criminal.

You're not supposed to bend when lifting, according to health and safety!Believe it or not, this descriptor was removed for health and safety reasons, whatever that is supposed to mean?!

i have no idea. maybe you are meant to leave it there on the floor as you cant ask your work mate to get it for you as they cant bend either or try and pick it up with your feet?. if it was so serious it would be laughable.
the government do not care at all. it is a case of work till you die as they have no place for ill or disabled people in their world. i mean look at what carers get paid? i mean the ones who actually do care 24.7.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You are probably expected to ask someone else to pick it up for you!

If you have to keep asking a female member of staff to bend over and pick things up for you, that could pose even further problems!

So a modern workplace doesn't have filing cabinets with bottom drawers etc.... If you worked in a clothes shop say, how on earth do the clothes that fall down get picked back up???
The bending and kneeling has been disregarded because it dos not fit into the modern work place.
How sad.
