There are a couple of things to note;

if you are a lone parent or a carer and you fulfill the criteria, you can claim Income Support.

But those numbers are small. You are now expected to move to JSA or ESA once your youngest child is 5.

I said the CAB wern't doing anything, well I know I'm wrong because I am aware of this from previous posts;

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/index/parliame..._2nd_reading_hoc.htm

however, I still don't think any of the charities are shouting loudly enough on our behalf.

The bill is marching on regardless. We should be seeing charity bosses in the press everyday.

Thanks Rachel

You are really good at digging I was really interested in this video and I noted it was mainly focused on the rewards of the providers and the financial incentives they get I really did listen to every word on the video.

This video really did open my eyes as to what is really happening to sick people not just me but everybody in the country.

Upping the anti(rewards) and making providers put in their own capital might just be a good thing for sick people that need equipment for their special needs but lets see if this help and equipment is provided and hope some of the companies just do not operate this as a purely profit making scheme.

I watched it intently and I was quite upset that the Select Commity was extremely interested in the financial details and only a little interested in the 'customers'.

They were concerned about the staff of Pathways who may loose their jobs this month which personally I found a bit abstract.

Thankyou for highlighting the positive Paul, I agree that for those who are nearly ready for work, it could be very beneficial...

if you are pushy, then ensure you get every tiny little thing you need;

chairs, rails, seat near the window, closest to the loo, whatever.

It is so important to have it written in your 'contract' BEFORE you sign it!

Best wishes,
Rachel

Firstly may I say that Rachel,s link was very informative, if not a little irritating on the part of the bozo,s involved.(not all but most of them in my opinion). Thanks as always though.
I shall be one of those that when this comes into legislature, I will qualify for a big fat nothing! My husband earns just over 17000, but as everyone knows, with bills, mortgage and the constant costs involved for my weekly hospital treatment, theres not much left.
I have been wondering at what stage they are at with this, I wonder exactly where in the bill stage, this is?
I tried to get my local Dial interested on several occasions with articulate well presented phone calls. Guess what? They did not appear to give a damn. I was horrified and so I decided to have a go with the CAB who were only slightly more interested. Not one to give up, I contacted all the local ME assoc's and was met with some laughable responses. One character who supposedly ran a local group, said "I was glad that people who were in receipt of IB would be targeted as I know somebody who is not as ill as they say they are" Clearly not bright enough to take on board what I was saying and on a nice pension. Another lady who ran a group and had a daughter with ME was a little more receptive but thought that "its a good idea that claimants are tested" She was a nice middle class lady whos daughter did not NEED any help! None the less she was nicer. So this is where we are at. People who should be in the know, just are'nt.
I am horrified and wish we could do something about it. I remember with some nostalgia, the days of the Musical protests against Thatcher's policy. Okay call me deluded, but I at least felt comforted when I was going to Billy Bragg gigs in the 80's! Maybe we could form a band? The B and W benefit gig? Every other group appears to be doing it, "the Priests", The Nurses" etc. So who can sing? I will hum it!
