Hi, I've just done the migration to UC as I got my letter the other day. I put in my housing costs and have today received a notification that they cannot pay my housing costs!
I believe it's because I get a rent increase in January, so put the higher amount in for my costs as my next rent payment will be for the increased amount. However all I've got is a message from someone saying to resubmit my costs on the 1st January, and another notification below stating that my housing costs cannot be paid.
And now I check and see that someone has changed my housing costs to nothing! What is going on, how are they allowed to do this? I have resubmitted my proofs and hope they accept them, but if they don't, what can I do?
You can start my sending a UC Journal message to the Case Manager who oversees rent/housing costs payments. Ask for an explanation and when it comes to send the message, from the drop down list choose A Payment ( not Work Coach ). If a reply is not forthcoming we can assist you in making a complaint to a DWP manager. Alternatively you could try phoning UC. The best times to phone are between 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 3pm whilst the temp staff are at work.
