Hello Gary and Thanks Charlie for your helpful post,

I am wondering if when we migrate from ESA support group to UC, if we have to go through TO DO’s in the journal. I thought to do was to look for work and nothing to do with bank details.

Any help much apreciated.
Best wishes

Hi VIA

You have to carry out what is in your To do box or else you will be sanctioned or even your claim being closed so, do not, repeat do not ignore your to do box.

I have come many claimants who have been sanctioned and claim closed because the claimant ignored the to do box.

Thank you very much Gary,
Once migrated to UC, I will never ever ignore the TO DO BOX.
I do not want to be sanctioned if I ignore the to box and have my universal credit stopped.

I am due to migrate to UC pretty soon.
I am on ESA Support group.
I imagine that someone migrated from esa support group to UC, on the TO DO journal, would not have to commit or look for work?

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi VIA

The conditions for claiming Universal Credit are set out in a "claimant commitment" that most people will have to accept at the beginning of their claim. If you are part of a couple, you will each have a separate claimant commitment that may be different from each other's.

People who may not need to accept a commitment include those who lack capacity, those who have exceptional circumstances  where it would be unreasonable to expect them to agree a commitment (this is decided by the work coach on a case by case basis), or, From 15 February 2022 people with a terminal illness and less than 6 months to live were also excluded, and from 4 April 2023 this was extended to 12 months.

There are 4 conditionality groups:

* Group 1. No work related requirements
* Group 2. Work-focused interview requirement
* Group 3. Work preparation requirement
* Group 4. All work-related requirements

Do you have to inform them of payments to creditors or if you give a payment to someone or is it more money coming into the account they are interested in

Hi copshaw

No, you do not have to inform DWP of payments to creditors.

Dwp are interested of payments coming into your account from an income or benefits or inheritance if you are on a means tested benefit.
