Hi MariW,
Just noticed this thread. So glad you have achieved SG for 3 years. I quite agree with the feelings you mentioned - not jubilant, just relieved. Same here. So, great news and many congrats!
Best wishes,

The decision letter confirming my placement in the ESA Support group arrived this morning. It states that I am entitled to ESA from 5 November and assure me that I shall be paid my old benefit(s) until then. It sounds simple enough but I am confused. Two questions:
1. I was last paid SDA on 13 October. I am due an IS payment on 21 October (tomorrow) and another a fortnight later on 4 November (the day before the changeover). The person who telephoned with the decision stated that my first ESA payday would be 18 November and fortnightly after that. There is nothing to confirm this in the letter. Does it make sense? Or am I going to lose money in transition?
2. The decision letter states the amounts paid are from 5 November to 25 November 2014. Having read other members’ posts, I am assuming this is a reference to the £10 Christmas payment. Am I right?
Thanks,
Mari

1. You should not lose any money during the switch to ESA, I'm afraid I do not know how SDA is paid (arrears, advance a combination) so I can't say whether the dates are correct, I believe IS is fortnightly in arrears as is ESA so I would expect two further IS payments and possibly a small end payment.
2. You should receive a further entitlement letter sometime on around the 25th which will have dates through to April 2015 which is when the annual uprating of benefits takes place.

Hi Gordon,
SDA was/is paid every four weeks. It's been so long that I cannot recall how it's paid; maybe a fortnight in advance and a fortnight in arrears. What makes me query the date of 18 November as my first ESA payday is that I'd be due a further SDA payment on 10th November which doesn't make sense if ESA is to begin on 5th.
