The rollout of universal credit has fallen even further behind schedule, according to a report released by the DWP yesterday. There is now no definite deadline for the new benefit to be rolled out to all 7.7 million claimants.{jcomments on}
Details of the revised schedule for universal credit are buried at page 30 of the 48 page report and were not mentioned at all in the accompanying press release. Originally, universal credit should have been in payment to over a million people last year. In fact there are only 14,170 receipients.
The DWP now say they expect 100,000 people to be getting the benefit by May 2015 and 500,000 by May 2016.
Full roll out is unlikely to be completed even by 2018.
