Two Nottingham residents, who were arrested on 30 September 2011 at a peaceful protest outside the Atos medical assessment offices in Stoney Street Nottingham, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Friday 25 November 2011. With a large number of protestors supporting them outside the Magistrates Court, both pleaded “not guilty” to the charge of aggravated trespass. The “Atos Two” are now waiting for their trial on Monday 27 February 2012.

The protest outside Atos Healthcare offices in Nottingham is part of a much wider campaign fighting against what many see as the government’s unfair and unjustified attack on disabled people and people with long-term health problems. Atos Healthcare has been severely criticised for its treatment of vulnerable people and is viewed as having played, and continues to play, a significant role in the government’s measures designed to undermine the very real and genuine needs of people with disabilities and long-term health problems.
