The Public Law Project is running a two hour webinar on 11 June looking at ‘Public law and welfare benefits during the COVID crisis’
The Public Law Project has been helping claimants and charities challenge unjust benefits regulations via judicial review for many years. Amongst its high profile successes was the RF case, which overturned the government’s attempts to make it harder for claimants with mental health conditions to claim PIP.
The upcoming webinar is aimed at paid and volunteer benefits advisers and aims to help them use public law to support claimants during the current crisis.
Topics include:
Sanctions during the lockdown
Universal Credit and issues such as challenging delays
Public law remedies and access to the courts during the crisis
Government support during the crisis including the benefit cap and two child limit
No recourse to public funds update and
Pre-settled status benefits entitlements
Speakers include:
Matt Ahluwalia, Public Law Project
Carla Clarke, Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG)
Adam Hundt, Deighton Pierce Glynn
Tom Royston, Garden Court Chambers
The event costs £12, including VAT. There are a small number of free places for volunteer advisers, but PLP is a charity and needs people to pay if they possibly can.
