Personal independence payment (PIP) is to belatedly begin replacing disability living allowance (DLA) in Norther Ireland from next month.{jcomments on}

Regulations laid this week mean that from 20 June 2016 all new claims will be for PIP rather than for DLA. In addition, current DLA claimants reporting a change of circumstances will also be assessed for PIP rather than DLA.

From December 2016 claimants in Northern Ireland who have an indefinite award of DLA will begin to be assessed for PIP.

Universal credit is also to be introduced into Northern Ireland, but not until sometime in 2017.

There is more information on the Citizens Advice Northern Ireland website.
