The Tribunals Service widened the areas of the country covered by the pilot of their online PIP appeal service, which Benefits and Work first highlighted in April of this year.

The pilot online system allows you to lodge your appeal online instead of filling in and posting an SSCS1 form.

You will need:

  • your Mandatory Reconsideration Notice (MRN)
  • your national insurance number
  • details of your representative, if you have one.

The pilot was originally only open to claimants living in the Midlands. However, it has now been extended to:

Bedfordshire,

Berkshire,

Buckinghamshire,

Cambridgeshire,

Essex,

East Sussex,

Hertfordshire,

Kent,

the Midlands,

Norfolk,

Oxfordshire,

Suffolk.

The pilot is part of a £1 billion programme to move the whole benefits appeal system online, with most hearings becoming virtual ones.

You can find out more about the online appeals pilot here.
