I have heard from DWP by phone (thanks to my MP's involvement). This is what I was told, but I've asked for it in writing.
1) when they close the case, there isn't a computer code for "earns over £95", so they just use the "works over 16 hours" code.
2) when someone who is appealing closes their claim, they have to fill in two screens. One generates the "your claim is closed" letter. The other screen is for your appeal, and the only way to get rid of that screen is by entering a "Tribunal says no" code but then they are supposed to hit a button or do something to stop the second letter being generated & posted because it's not a letter as much as a way round a glitch in their computer system. I'm told I'm the first person they know of for whom the "don't send the letter" system has failed.
Just thought you'd like the update, and might find the info useful
