A WRAG Question was created by Pusscat
Hi

I've just been speaking to a very helpful lady at the JobCentre Plus department. She was very nice and informed me that I had no need to send in a sicknote as I am in the WRAG and that my appeal is still in place and waiting for a date.

I wanted to know what happens if you attend, or make arrangements for telephone meetings for the WRAG due to not be able to attend on your own because of health problems and they, because of the problems you have see it's obvious you are not well enough to work, what would happen. Do they force you to look for work or is there some other avenue that is taken?

Thanks, in anticipation of you help

Hi Pusscat

If they feel that you are unable to work or attend courses at present, your advisor has the option of deferring the interviews until such time (if ever) that your health improves.

My meetings are currently deferred on the outcome of my appeal.

I cannot attend on my own, if I stay in the group because of my vision problems and no-one can take the days off to take me should I have to go depending on my appeal and what happens there.

Is this a reason they will conduct phone interviews, does anybody know, if I stay in the WRAG?

Thanks

Karen

Hopefully your appeal will be allowed and you will be placed in the support group, in which case you will not be required to attend these interviews.

If your appeal fails and you remain in the WRAG it will be up to your advisor whether your interviews will be deferred again. People who attend these interviews are not expected to look for work, only to prepare for it. They usually offer courses that they think will be of benefit but they are not always mandatory.

As far as I know, telephone WFIs are for people in the WRAG who are unable to get to the interview centre, usually due to illness. There is nothing more stupid than conducting a WFI over the phone for this reason, as clearly if you are unable to attend an interview then you are not fit for work or work-related activities.
