I sent a separate explanation to each relevant question (14 pages in total), plus a diary kept over a 3 week period, plus prescription form, plus a supporting letter from GP.

Still got a visit from the doctor and was awarded highest rate mobility and middle rate carers for two years. I don't know how they think the condition will improve after 13 years! Wouldn't claim it now if I hadn't persuaded hubby to do so. The doctor who visited was very professional (a retired GP) and not at all like we expected him to be after hearing so many horror stories. Anyway, 2 years is better than nothing at all and for that we are grateful.

Thank you B and W. It was extremely helpful to be a member and have access to the information on this site.

I hope other members are successful in their claims.

In theory looking at length of awards on DWP for most health problems it seems to say for most things been ill longer than 2 years long award.... they do take note if people are expecting hospital treatment that might make things better they go for 2 years, but IMO reading on here many people asking for the first time even if they have been ill for ages only get 2 years, I suppose thats so they can see what happens :)
