Youreable forums. was created by Jim Allison BSc, Inst LE, MBIM; MA (Consumer Protection & Social Welfare Law)
Youreable forums appear to be attracting both old & new members. However, despite being a moderator for YA, before it closed, I won't be posting on their boards again, as the Disabled Living Foundation who now own YA, have taken the decision not to pre-moderate posts. Very unwise in my opinion bearing in mind the reason it closed was due to abuse of moderators, trolls, flaming etc.

However, due to B & W closing at weekends, some members may wish to use their Forums which are open at weekends.

Hi Jim

I have briefly looked at YA but i am concerned firstly that nothing is checked before it is published and secondly the penalties to members should they post something that could put YA at risk. Surely that is the idea of moderating forums to prevent these problems!!!!!

I have adapted to B&W - weekends off it gives me the time to go back and read in depth the posts that i have not had time to read. All the moderators need quality time you all do an amazing job!!! Long live B&W!!!!!

Jim it is lovely to have you back i hope you are feeling much better, we have really missed you. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Mm :)

I think that includes moderators.

Hi Dave,

Jim isn't too good today, so is resting, but I'll answer your query.

In my opinion, a minority of YA's moderators were as bad as members in their behaviour. I'm not sure if you're aware, but when YA closed in December last year, the Police were called in to investigate.

As you're aware both Jim and I were moderators for YA for many years. We're both 'squeaky clean' having had Criminal Records Bureau checks quite a few years ago, plus of course until he retired, Jim held a judicial appointment. Both Jim & I resigned both as moderators and members long before it closed, due to lack of back-up from the then the site owners in general.

Jim posted about YA to give B & W members the opportunity to visit their forums whilst we are closed over the weekend. He did that of his own volition which is why his post added a disclaimer for legal reasons.

I think we should now bring this thread to a halt, since we are not here to either praise or condemn moderators of other sites, in this case Youreable.

Our role as moderators is where possible to help B & W members.

Best wishes,

Pat

I don't think that it would be helpful for us to enter into a protracted discussion of the relative merits of B&W and Youreable, so I'm locking this thread.
