hi im a new member ive suffered from mental illness all my adult life depression, anxiety, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts and images and have now developed social phobia ,ive always managed to work up until 1 year ago i had a complete breakdown, my doctor signed me off sick, i attended a medical in march this year and acheived only 6 points, i appealed with the aid of letters from my doctor and psychiatrist, my appeal did not go to ahead the DWP changed their decision and i was put in the support group, my present medical situation has not changed, i waited 9 months to see a psychologist i seen her 2 weeks ago, ive left my home only twice in one year, im on cloripramine, trazadone and diazapam, i am due to attend another ATOS medical tomorrow 16th but my doctor has sent them a letter saying i am to ill to attend and has requested that if they want to examine me they conduct it in my own home, or they even contact him for more information as he says there is no need for a medical as im very ill, i sent the letter from my doctor to ATOS by recorded delivery last Wednesday but im concerned that ive not heard from them, do you think i should send a copy to the DWP as-well as im terrified that they will think ive just not turned up for my medical tomorrow for no reason and stop my EAS, any advice would be appreciated
Hi,
It maybe wise to ring the ATOS office where your medical is due to be held to confirm they are in receipt of your letter. If not, ask if you can fax/e-mail it across.
Also ring and then send it to the DWP office dealing with your claim.
Sadly, despite what your doctor has said, if they decide you still need a medical in order to continue to claim then Iam afraid they can insist, but if you have good cause it maybe deferred.
Pete
