I can believe this as the ATOS centre used in Brighton has - approx - 5 steps down to it and no other way in!!!!! Great if you can't do steps!!
They really are ridiculous some of the places they use.

Hence the offer of an alternative assessment centre approx a hour and a half drive great choice if you can sit comfortably for any period of time.

Phoned A.T.O.S(once more this morning) a home assessment has been agreed awaiting a letter from them confirming details. This may be a step in the right direction however,if A.T.O.S consider the medical evidence provided warrants a home assessment how can they ignore the very same medical evidence with regard to my ability to work?
Another example of stupidity and a total waste of tax payers money.

Hi Badback Bill,
My husband had to attend an ATOS medical whilst waiting for medical retirement from HSE.
The venue was 1 1/2hrs away,we went on public transport, with a wheelchair. Got there fine, no probs, into venue.
Reception chap said "you can't go in the lift and you need to get to the 4th floor". "Don't be daft",says hubby,"I've come for a medical assessment". "Sorry, I can't let you in the lift, what whould happen if there was a fire".
So someone came down from upstairs and apologized. We explained that we had 'phoned to ask about access. They should have sent us somewhere else. So off we went home.
A month later, another medical at a smaller venue. Letter said to be there ten minuets earlier than appointment time, which was 12o'clock.
We arrived at 11:50, they were closed for lunch,(handwritten sign taped to door), sitting in Reception, eating from their little boxes.
Knocked on door, "may we wait inside, it's raining". Pointing to Hubby in wheelchair with no coverall. "Can't you read, we're closed for lunch".
We went home and Hubby 'phoned ATOS and his manager at HSE to complain.
You couldn't make it up.
Regards to all, Pud

Hi dippypud, Have you thought about contacting your MP with a view to making a formal complaint against ATOS. I think its disgusting the way you and your husband were treated. Please consider it. Best Wishes
