Hi Rachel,
I'm afraid not. The way the forum software works, and we can't change it, is that if the forums are closed, then they won't be readable or searchable. If you try to login, it will just put up a message saying the forums are closed.
However, you can still use the the old forums to do both at :
www.benefitsandwork.org.uk/forums/
It works for me, using my current login name and password, but for more recent members it may not work.
I hope it works for the majority of members.
As Steve has said, the current forums will re-open on 1 September.
If members who are currently sick or on holiday are able to post sooner, then it may well be possible to open them earlier, but that decision would need to be made by the site owner.
Kind regards.
Jim

Addendum to previous post.
As Crazydiamond is way on holiday from 19 -29 August, Pete and my wife Pat is in hospital, and I'm due to go back into hospital tomorrow due to MRSA, I'd respectfully request that no further posts are made, since they won't be any moderators around to moderate posts, which will mean if you post it won't be moderated and this will result in a large back log when the forum reopens on 1 September 2010.
With Steve not around for personal reasons, and having authority to act in his absence, I suggest that any moderators who do come online, DO NOT approve any further posts for the forum. If they are I reserve the right to delete them, and they can be resubmitted after 1 September.
Many thanks, and look forward to being back soon.

Hi Gareth,
As Steve said I'm sorry you weren't kept up-to-date, but it was done at short notice because events happened so quickly.
It looks like a post you approved has either not been approved or was deleted after clearance.
It wasn't done by me I can assure you, so I've just posted in the Moderators Forum that no further posts should be approved.
I hope you're not too bad yourself and enjoying your Apple Mac computer.
Take care.
Jim

Well enough to be around to moderate some posts. However I'll log off and go and take a rest until September 1st when hopefully the backlog won't be too severe and time consuming to clear.

Gareth
I assume it is my post that has been deleted after you okayed it? - disappointing because it was on an important topic, took me ages to write and was written in support of people with mental health conditions.
I was under the impression when I started writing it that the forum would be up and running until the end of the week? I must have misread the thread - never mind!
Thank you for reading it and I understand your frustration at the way the forum came to an abrupt pause.
Best wishes and hope you all have a good rest.
