Incontinence -ESA form was created by tilly
Hi
Does anyone else suffer from incontinence? I am just doing another ESA50 and I have double incontinence (have full urinary accident about once a week)... I attend a clinic about this problem. Has anyone else had this on ESA and if so, which group did they go into?

At my first ESA medical the nurse told me she was not assessing my incontinence and gave me zero points for it!

I appealed.

Hey Tilly

I have MS and this has affected my bowel continence. I had an ESA tribunal after which I was pit into to the support group due to mobility issues that qualify me for it. The tribunal judge signed it off also stating that other descriptors may apply. He was referring to my continence issues. As you have problems once a week then this should automatically qualify you for the support group. HTH

Hi Tilly, further to my last reply to you if you put Incontinence in the search engine(top right) it will show up a lot of cases. I note you have put in an appeal have you a WRO or CAB helping you?. Some cases of incontinence may well qualify for DLA it is well worth talking it through with those advising you. Best Wishes

Hi Tilly,I cant answer your question re ESA but can tell you I live and care for male 101yrs old.The district nurse got him a 'condome like ballon' for night times. This fits over his 'friend' and prevents accidents when he sleeps. When we talk a car journey - I carry a spare plastic bottle for him..Hmm nice.Lyn

Hi Tilly

Yes incontinence is taken into account and it should be addressed at your medical. In my case it was totally disregarded but on obtaining a report from my GP that supports this i was placed into the support group. If you have problems every week you will get or should be allocated the full 15 points. The incontinance only needs to happen once a month to qualify. Please try and get medical evedence to take to your medical with you that way it may save you from having to go to tribunal. Any evidence you take has to be taken into account. Please bear in mind that i have various other problems that contributed to me being placed into the support group. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Best wishes
