dla renewal was created by Kilmunlady
Received letter this week notifying that my renewal claim for dla has been successful. The letter states that the benefit will be be from and after 12/9/2010 but did not give a date for next renewal. Just wondering why no renewal date given.

I also was successful earlier this year with IB renewal so am very grateful for the information on this site which helped me complete the forms. I am so releieved and it has been very stessful dealing with two claims close together. Thanks to all. :)

Hi Christine,

If a DLA decision by either a DWP Decision Maker, or a DLA Tribunal has no end date, then it's what's called an 'indefinite award' ( formerly called life awards).

It's possible that at some time in the future that the award may be looked at again under what's called the Right Payment Programme, but this only happens in less than 1% of all DLA indefinite awards.

As long as your mobility and/or care needs don't improve, your current award will continue to be paid. If your condition worsens and your needs increase, you can always ask for the award to be reviewed.

Thank you for telling us of your success with both DLA and IB, it really does give encouragement to others in a similar position.

Best wishes.

Jim
