Will Psychiatrist discharge my wife affect benefit

Hi Golden Syrup

I read your post with great interest, one point you made which I am not clear on is the following.

Thankfully I will not have to attend medical or work-shops and I will not be changed over to ESA for the foreseeable future.

One of the mods may correct me on this. But I was under the impression the migration to ESA for everyone in receipt of Incapacity Benefit started in earnest in Feb 011

I did not realise that for some claimants an exception would be made.

I do not know if this will help with your concern but it may and I hope that it may. I too was under the care of my local community mental health team(for help with anxiety/depression resulting from ny progressive neurologcal condition) I also was discharged for non-attendance ( I was actually in hospital when the appt was due) This happened some time before I completed and returned my latest IB50 and attended an Atos medical. Also before I applied for the first time for DLA. I simply told it as it was both in the forms and at the medical and the discharge from the mental health team did not seem to have any bearing on the outcome. My IB was continued albeit for just 1 year and I was awarded DLA LR for both components indefinately

Thanks for all your thoughts on this matter. I guess all I can do is remain cautiously optimistic that they don't assume my wife has miraculously got over her phobias and anxieties due to this decision. The irony is that I made sure she never missed a single appointment as she truly needs the support of mental health services.

Thanks again,
Snow
