Hi Sammy,

It's possible that if you submit a claim for DLA then the DWP may use the IB medical as it's fairly recent, but there's no way of knowing, it depends upon the Decision Maker.

As I'm sure you're aware DLA is paid to those with care and/or mobility problems, whilst IB is paid to claimants unable to work so assessments are rather different. IB was replaced for new claimants by Employment Support Allowance (ESA) in November 2009.

IB and State Pension cannot be paid at the same time, as they're what's called 'overlapping benefits'.

You can get a DLA claim pack by 'phoning Benefits Enquiry Line free on 0800 882200, or complete an online form. I prefer doing it the old fashioned way, with a pen ;)

Make sure you read our guides in the members area on making the best possible claim for DLA here : DLA Resources

Good luck !

Pat
