" You do not normally get a review within 6 months of pension age" You mean for ESA? I'm due for review in early June but reach pension age early November

Hi micksville
Yes, I mean ESA. A day before your state pension age your ESA will stop. This is why you need to sort out your state pension and pension credit guarantee if eligible.

Am I right in thinking pension credit is claimed via UC now? If I claimed it say 4 months before pension age might that trigger a move to UC from ESA assuming I've not already been migrated by then?

Hi micksville,
The government website reports the following information:
No, you don't claim Pension Credit through Universal Credit. Pension Credit is a separate benefit for those over State Pension age with a low income, and claiming it doesn't involve Universal Credit, according to GOV.UK.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
Pension Credit is a separate benefit: It's designed to help people over State Pension age who have a low income, and it's not part of the Universal Credit system.
Universal Credit is for working age people: Universal Credit is a benefit for people of working age who are unemployed or on low incomes.
Mixed-age couples: If one partner is over State Pension age and the other is not, they will usually need to claim Universal Credit until both partners reach State Pension age.
If you're already getting Pension Credit: If you or your partner are already receiving Pension Credit, claiming Universal Credit will stop your Pension Credit payments.
How to claim Pension Credit: You can apply for Pension Credit online, by phone, or by post.
If you are part of a mixed age couple and are of State Pension Age, you may be able to claim Pension Credit instead of Universal Credit .
Chris.

Chris,
I get what you mean in that PC isn't claimed thru UC but what about Housing Benefit? With my ESA I currently get HB but once I am on pension Credit would HB be paid thru PC or via UC ?
