SELF EMPLOYED BUT UNABLE TO WORK was created by Tadpole1
Hi , I am self employed but unable to work . I have been on CB ESA support group sine Sept 2023. I do not want to go through the distress of applying for PIP and the ESA is enough to compensate for the loss of my self employed income. I am looking for an answer about whether :

a) do I need to do a tax return.
b) Is the CB ESA classed as Income ? If so I wouldnt be getting anything near the tax threshold per annum.
c) What happens to my NIC while I am not working ?
d) does the DWP pay them ?
e) should i stay registered self employed
This is all very stressful and trying to get answers on the phone can take hours. I hope someone can advise me .

Hi Tadpole1

I cannot advise on self employment and tax returns.
CB ESA is classed as income.
You currently receive NI credits.

Hope this helps.
