Backdated lump sum payments was created by Jax
I have recently received a large payment for my income related ESA, for underpayment of about 4 years. I was told by the General Matching Services that it should NOT affect my UC claim, which I have just an immigration letter for. But no how hard I try I have found very little information to actually confirm what the GMS told me. In fact there is very little about the GMS., but lots to say no qualification for UC if savings over £6000. We have spent on necessary items to help make our lives easier, things we have had to go without for mobility and getting in and out the house etc. What feels silly is, we may not qualify for UC because of this lump sum, when if we had received it when it was due, chances are we would of used it already. How does that work??

Hi Jax

What does the letter state is the reason for the payment of backdated ESA? Was it an error by the DWP? Does the letter state that this payment will be disregarded?
