The letter finally arrived today - the day before the assessment! One thing I did note is that it says you need two working days if you want to undertake an audio recording of the assessment. That's a real shame as I am outside that deadline. Should I still try to record it? It says they may terminate the assessment if I am caught trying to make a recording.

Hi bahern
I would record it without the assessor knowing, even if the assessor was recording the assessment, I would still record it. We quite often hear on the forum from members who asked for the assessment to be recorded only to be told there was an issue in recording the assessment.

I was unable to answer the phone for the assessment in the end due to the mental health crisis/breakdown I'm going through and my complete lack of preparation. I'm really not in a viable state.
But bizarrely I've now been asked on the UC system to contact WCA enquires to request an extension to the deadline of the health questionnaire.
I'm throughly confused. I thought rejecting the phone call and having not returned the questionnaire in time (I'm now 9 weeks late), that would be the end of this torture.
Some of us are just too broken to go through this process. I'm a danger to myself and others and have no real life support of any kind.
Sorry, I realise this is likely to be a situation where no one has any insight/experience. It's not meant to be a moan, just utter confusion about the rules and the system.

A more positive update:
I spoke to my work coach about the problems/meltdown I was having and they kindly contacted a local charity for me that helps disabled people with form filling and navigating much of the bureaucracy. Hopefully they will be in touch soon.
They also told me to request a mandatory reconsideration in my journal regarding the telephone assessment I missed, and got in touch with HAAS for me, who phoned me back and told me they are still waiting for my UC50 and that it still has no deadline, though with my file automatically heading back to the DWP time was running out.
She said because they have quite a bit of information about my issues via my old PIP forms, and due to the nature of my mental health problems, they are usually more flexible than they might be in other circumstances.
I've also been given a DWP number to call next week, to explain to them why I was unable to take the WCA call, and request they send my file back to HAAS/extend my deadline/offer another assessment. She said they probably won't do that, but that if I can speed my UC50 to HAAS, that report should still be accepted by the decision maker.
I must say my work coach and the people I've spoken to at HAAS have been very kind and helpful. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, and even if nothing comes of my appeals, I do at least feel much less anxious.

Hi bahern,
That's great to hear that you're feeling less anxious - I totally feel your pain, and understand how stressful waiting is, as I've been there myself, and currently have an ongoing appeal which still hasn't been resolved yet since June 2023!
I think that some of the work coaches are very understanding, mine has been also - and it certainly does help the claimant towards feeling more positively.
Good luck!
Chris.
