UC migration ID was created by Sidhu123
Hello, just wanted to know when you move over from ESA to UC and you have to show ID, what is acceptable as the passport has been expired? Can you still show an expired passport and what else would you need which is acceptable, don’t have a driving license?
Thanks

Hi Sidhu123,

ID requirements for Managed Migration seem to be varying amongst members. I suppose it depends on the information that the DWP already hold. But an expired passport is allowed as long as the photo is recognisable.

I have just been through this and an expired passport is not allowed. It would not accept it from the point you have to enter in the expiry date. There is no way to progress and put in a photo.

My account now won't allow me to try any other method and says they will call me in 2-3 days.

Hi username17,

An expired passport is allowed. I think there must have been some error in the input of your data.
I have not known the DWP to reject an expired passport in the past unless the photo is unrecognisable.
I have also checked this today with a Citzens Advice Help to Claim adviser who confirmed that what I am advising is correct.
Below is the list of acceptable ID published by the DWP. You could also phone Citizens Advice Help To Claim on the phone number on page 2 of your Migration letter.
