Migration from IB ESA & CTC to UC. Documents needed? was created by Twigs01
Good morning all
I have received migration notice with transitional protection.
I am wondering what happens when completing online forms?. I know I need ID which I have two of. What else will I need there and then?. Will I need bank statements to upload?. Or is that only if I have savings?. Or must I print bank statements to take to first meeting?. I'm also unsure where I can add information so they ensure I am given protection and not forced to do the sick move thing etc again?.
Will I need council tax bills or any other info?.
I am hearing people are not getting paid or paid incorrectly, which is not something I can sustain especially with winter and Xmas.
Many thanks in advance

Hi Twigs01,
Because you already receive DWP Benefits they hold information about you on their computer systems. The DWP could if it wanted spend staff time matching this data with their IT system called CIS Searchlight. My thoughts are that the DWP would rather put the onus and expense on the claimant to verify their ID a second time rather than employ hundreds of staff to do this for the Managed Migration process.
It is well known that the Jobcentre can do a biographical check to satisfy UC ID requirements with Government held data but this is very staff time consuming.
So unfortunately it will be for the DWP official on the day to decide on proof of ID and savings and hopefully no mistakes will be made.
Council Tax is administered by the Local Authority ( Council ) and you will need to inform them when you have claimed UC.
Hope this helps,
David
