PIP & Severe Disabiliity Premium was created by Mikey
I was recently awarded PIP - Daily Living Component (Enhanced Rate). I am also in receipt of Income Related ESA (Support Group). I recently received a text message from DWP informing me that I am to be paid arrears of Severe Disability Premium - which will subsequently lead to regular weekly payments of this benefit. However, I am slightly concerned. Information on the gov.uk website states that to be awarded Severe Disability Premium a person must be in receipt of the disability premium or income-related ESA and one other qualifying benefit which includes PIP Daily Living Component. However, the gov.uk website also states that to be awarded the Enhanced Disability Premium a person must be in receipt of the disability premium or income-related ESA and one other qualifying benefit which includes PIP Daily Living Component (Enhanced rate). I am currently in receipt of PIP - Daily Living Component (Enhanced Rate). Could you confirm if I should be receceiving the Severe Disability Premium OR the Enhanced Disability Premium? There is a difference in the rates of pay for each of those benefits. I’m worried that I may have been over-paid – therefore I would have to pay any over-payment back.

Hi Mikey,
You can receive both the Severe Disability Premium and the Enhanced Disability Premium at the same time.
In your case as you get the Enhanced rate of PIP and don't have a carer looking after you. You didn't mention a carer.
There is further information in this useful BenefitsandWork guide.

No; I don' t have a carer.
Thank you but you've missed my point.
It's all about my correct benefit entitlement and the amount I'm being paid - or being over paid? Is there a number I could ring to conform my entitlement? I don't wish to have to repay money for a mistake made by DWP.
