Reporting Health Changes was created by Rox
hi Peeps!
I is new here:)
im receiving LCWRA since May and i am curious about the topic of reporting if you have a change in your health, whether it be new symptoms or dis-appearance of reported symptoms....
i dont really get the concept of reporting changes straight away because health is a fluctuating thing.... if you had bad depresssion for example and then had one 'depression free day' would you report it? in my way of thinking you wouldnt report something until you had time to see a pattern more clearly and even then symptoms can disappear for a while and then come back - in my experience.
also, do you report every small thing? like ive got a bunch of new symptoms recently; hair loss, heart-burn, poorer eyesight etc - should i report these?
and if you report stuff regularly, does that mean they will keep changing the amount of benefits that you receive?
and for long-standing conditions, if you have a particuarly good patch or bad patch should you report, e.g i have 'disordered eating' issues, should i say if i have had a really good run?
sorry, if this sounds like a silly question, but i feel really nervous about it and want to stay on the right side of things so just want to get some more clarity!
thanks for any thoughts you may have!

Hi Rox
Welcome to the forum. If you need information about how things work you can find it here. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/forum
Don't apologise for not knowing something - there aren't any silly questions - and you don't know, what you don't know. If we're not able to answer something we will tell you and try to say where you might get help.
You are in the LCWRA. The only thing the DWP is interested in is whether you have improved, in which case they will review your case and move you to another group. You don't report small changes in symptoms because they don't careājust keep a log of them yourself for when you next have to fill in a review form. You won't get any increase in money for your additional symptoms. The main reason for reporting a change of circumstances is if people want to be moved to LCWRA from one of the other groups. Once you're there - the worsening of your symptoms makes no difference.
Using the example you gave about having bad depression and having one good day - should you report it - NO! Again it's not relevant. Plenty of people have fluctuating symptoms, and it would be a nightmare for them to try and keep track of everyone informed them whenever this happened.
If a claimant finds their situation has improved and that is expected to be maintained then they are supposed to report it and their case will be reviewed.
