Hello. We believe there is a 3 or more weeks period whereas we will not receive our ESA payments whilst our joint Universal Credit claim is complete. Do we receive these missing payments once our claim is complete..if not..how does this work please?

Thanks.

Hi Eveshell,

UC is paid monthly according to your assessment period. If you cannot manage during the migration you can apply for a UC Advance and this can be done online through your UC account. I cannot tell you how much you will get paid. The best thing is to ask them that information before migration.

As David says get on to the CAB to help manage the migration so you don't lose money, I did on the transfer from ESA to UC. The money received from ESA was easier to live on than UC is and I got no backpay for the changeover - even owed rent due to the mess up - yes I'm ready for a court appearance over my tenancy as I can show a magistrate rent arrears were caused by the change over - I had no migration letter and only this site for advice.
