Migration, forced from IR ESA to UC was created by Perdita
It was suggested that a gov gateway account be opened as a way of passing the ID test for migrating to UC, but the gov website says this is no longer accepted for UC. I keep reading about people being forced to attend the job centre for proving ID etc. The 'face to face ID' list is much broader and looks much easier to provide. However, like myself , many can not do face to face. The list for online ID acceptable for UC is really short and only really applies to people who have been working - it largely consists of things like P60, self assessment docs etc along with tax credits paperwork. if a person has not been working for a long time, and has no tax credits of any kind, how on earth can they verify their ID online? I hae even seen posts on forums where job centres have still insisted on claimants attending the job centre despite having a letter from their doctor. Are there not reasonable adjustments for the disabled who cannot do face to face for presenting their ID when the online ID selection of accepted proof documents is so narrow?

Hi Perdita,

In answer to your question " Are there not reasonable adjustments for the disabled who cannot do face to face for presenting their ID when the online ID selection of accepted proof documents is so narrow?"
Yes, if the DWP deem you to be not well enough to attend a face to face interview they can do a " biographical check " over the phone to satisfy their ID requirements.
Here is a useful guide which hopefully will answer your questions.

Thank you, that is good. So we just have to be sure that the Job Centre staff have been trained sufficiently to be aware of this 'biographical check' that can be done over the phone. At least we have the knowledge ourselves of the possibility of a biographical check over the phone, thank you.

Hello David,

Thank you for providing a link above re If the DWP deems us to be not well enough to attend a face to face interview the can do a “ biographical check “ over the phone to satisfy their ID requirement.

Unfortunately when I click on the link it does not bring me to this useful guide but only to one of the website pages.

Is it possible to provide the link to that useful guide if DWP deems us Not well enough to attend the face to face interview to satisfy their ID requirements.

I really appreciate it.
Thank you.
Best wishes.
