We are thinking of applying for DLA for our daughter aged 3 as she is having some of the issues our other child had when he was her age. Our son gets DLA and has been diagnosed with ASD and ADHD.
However, his nursery were very supportive with his DLA claim at the time.
Our daughter's nursery simply state they see no traits of ASDADHD in our daughter as she is meeting her nursery targets.
Our GP has referred our daughter onto the ASD pathway for investigation based on our concerns.
Are we able to apply for DLA if the nursery won't support us?
I feel they don't see all the behaviours we see at home and think she may be masking her condition at nursery or the staff are so overworked they don't see enough of her to understand.
You can apply for DLA but you may be difficult with out supporting documents, you may want to wait for your daughter to be seen by ASD pathway for investigation based on your concerns
Remember the DWP does not know your child, so you have to paint a picture in words explaining your childs condition(s), how they affect them. what help is requires and any aids and adaptions they uses.
Have a look at our Child DLA Claim guide to see if they meets the criteria for an award.
