My DLA decision was changed on review!

Some good news. I was to appeal against the DLA decision not to award me anything for the mobility component, despite submitting detailed information about my mobility. However, this decision was reconsidered after I pointed out 10 statements which were overlooked. One example was that I stated I could only manage to walk about '20 yards, with the help of someone else', but they said I could mobilise '50 meters without any difficulty', despite the fact that I often limp badly/wobble and some days cannot walk outside at all. I also emphasised that that I am in constant pain in my feet, joints, legs/muscles, before I even attempt to walk. Anyway...I now have the higher rate mobility component! The DLA had messed up and they knew that they had little chance of wriggling out of it at appeal. Their response bore little relation to my form and this was pretty evident. Result!

I hope the ESA appeal goes well later in the year. At least I know I have a Welfare Rights Officer to help me. I received the bundle this week.

Glad to hear of your success on reconsideration. There appears for DLA to be more decisions being reviewed in favour of the claimant in recent months.

Hopefully, this is a sign that at last Decision Makers are addressing the criticisms by the Commons Select Committee on Social Security and the former President of the Tribunals Service, HH Judge Michael Harris.
