DLA Awarded at first attempt! was created by nurseglad
I just wanted to thank this site for the outstanding advice I was able to access here. I claimed for DLA in July and have just received a letter informing me that I had been awarded DLA Mobility Higher Rate, and Middle Rate Care Component. I didn't have to attend a medical, as I had already been "Assessed" by Atos in August for ESA. Considering my limited mobility I was placed in the WRAG (???) Now I have higher rate Mobility I will ask to be transferred to the Support Group
Thank you

Congratulations and thanks for letting us know.
With regard to your ESA, I am not sure that you will be able to "ask to be trasnferred".
Unfortunately, the decision to award you HRM, is itself not reason to place you in the ESA Support Group.
If the Decision to place you in the WRAG was in August or more than a month ago, you will be outside of the timeframe to appeal, and as it sounds from your post that condition has not worsened since that Decision, there are no grounds to ask for a Revision.
If any of the facts, above, are incorrect then please ignore my comments.

Hi, and thanks Gordon
Actually my condition has deteriorated, as my pain is now chronic and am facing several surgical procedures in the future. I have also been diagnosed with osteoarthritis.
I was initially going to appeal about the ESA WRAG decision, but by the time I had got through all of the lengthy and tedious form filling I felt I was "Lucky" to be one of the 20 something percent to "pass" the Atos Assessment.
I have to thank you for the advice given on this site regarding that claim too.
Many many thanks. Without this site I feel lots of people would be denied their legitimate claims for these benefits.
The extra £400 I will now receive 4 weekly will make such an enormous difference to my quality of life.

If you are thinking of asking for a Revision because your condition is now worse, then a good place to start, would be to request your ESA85 medical report and the ESA65 Decision Makers Statement of Reasons, from your last assessment.
This will allow you to understandhow many points you scored, to be placed in the WRAG, and for which of the ESA criteria.
I am sure you understand this, so forgive me for repeating it, but to be put in the Support Group you are going to need to demonstrate that you now meet one or more of the SG criteria.
You should also be aware that with any Revision or Reconsideration, there is always the risk of your existing claim being reviewed and potentially removed.
