DLA awarded after DLA doctors visit

I appealed a nil award for DLA

Well the DLA doctor came and I fretted for two weeks wondering what he was going to put in his report.

Today I received a letter saying I had been awarded High Rate Mobility until 2016

I rang DLA and they said the decision had been changed because of the home visit by the doctor.

So it seems that not all the visiting doctors are writing bad reports.

I did ask for a copy of the report so I could see what it says.

I'm really pleased with the award but was a little surprised I didn't get an award for care.

I'll wait to see the report from the visiting doctor says.

I know I can still appeal it but not sure I really want to at this time. I'll speak with the CAB to see what they think.

At least now I don't need to fret about it anymore.

What has been a stressful time was worth it in the end (just!)

Well done on getting an award of HRM until 2016. You are going to speak to the CAB about the care award, let us know how you get on.

Yes I'll let you know what they have to say.

The CAB appeals person is on sick at our olocal office, they are hoping to get someone in for next week to clear the backlog.

I know I only have 4 weeks if I do decide to appeal

As you're aware of the time limits, may I point out that should you appeal non award of the care component, the whole of your award could be looked at again. If appealing the care element, you will need to show new evidence in support of the non award of DLA care.
