I'm afraid you really need to persevere with the CAB as you need and advisor who can look at your income and personal circumstances.
Good luck with CAB and appeal

Sorry to hear your bad news but it always seems the cab are very busy so go down, if you can, in person to see them.
I think they dont have enough spare time to answer their pnone.
What the Government are doing to disabled people is horrendously shocking.Good luck.

Should also mention, that if you rent from a social landlord (Housing Association) many have Welfare Rights Advisers for their tenants.
May be another option.

With regard to Housing Benefit you do need to contact them, straight away. Normally when a benefit is stopped as my ESA was last month, the DWP will contact Housing benefit who will stop rent payments. This is purely because the DWP don't explain why benefit has been stopped so the HB dept have to assume its because you have started work. When my ESA got stopped I called the council straight away and they explained what I have already written above but that I would simply be reassessed on my income (or lack of) I sent in last 3 bank statements and there was no interruption or delay in my rent payments, they just carried on as normal. When my ESA got reinstated at the lower rate, again notified council, sent in copy of DWP letter and was reassessed again, and rent payments carried on as normal.
So yes, you will have to contact them. If they have stopped rent payments (can take a while) it should get backdated.
