Home Medical Assessment today was created by Mhambi
Hi all,
Just wanted to let you all know that I had my Home Medical Assessment from ATOS today.
As far as I know assessments (In had 3 already, but never one at home. This was my first Home Assessment today) it went OK'ish.
The whole visit was over in about 20min. I had to be assess for physical problems (severe lower back pain and I can not walk further then 25 meters before I physically not be able to walk any further).
It was more of an 'interview' style assessment. Everything was hand written and I had my carer (my wife) with me the whole time.
The 'interview' concentrated on my pain location, how I spend a typical day and for what I needed the help of my wife.
A couple of questions about the medication and a quick movement assessment followed (half of it I could not do in the first place anyway) and after that it was all over.
I will get a written copy of my assessment and now it is down to the DM at the DWP.
Seeing that I gone downhill each time that I had an assessment done I guess this one will tick all the right boxes as well.
I wonder if there are points for an Home Visit as this shows that a claimant is deemed unable by ATOS itself to get to the assessment centre and the assessment starts with the way you get to the centre and how you can move within?
Also, does anyone knows if you get the £15 for the Doctors Letter back?
Well, its over now and I got a good feeling as it is a particular s***t day for me anyway and even the Morphine is not helping much today.
Just thought I let you know as there is hardly anything found on Home Assessments so hopefully others know now what will happen (at least if you have physical handicaps rather then mental ones).
All the best to everyone.

Hi Mhambi
I'm glad your home medical went OK'ish.
You don't automatically get points for having a home medical but the fact that Atos accepted that it was necessary does appear in your favour. In fact it's hard to imagine how anyone who needs a home medical would be able to undertake work-related activities, unless the provider visits you at home.
I'm afraid I don't think you can reclaim expenses for obtaining medical evidence but I'm not absolutely certain of that. You might want to phone Medical Services or the DWP to confirm that.
Good luck with the results.
