Yes,I also agree with mumsgirl as I went to these interviews and found the man I was put with was very understanding. He did not pressure me to go back to work,he did give me a bit of homework that only took up about half hour of my time, keeping him informed of my health and any hospital appointments I had coming up.
This was a year ago but i'm sure your be fine. B)

Before they made me redundant I worked for one of the dreaded welfare to work companys....so was responsible for WFI's withe people in health related benefits..
The purpose of the interview is to determine if their is anything that could help/support you in potentially seeking work. They should appreciate that at this time you do not feel able to consider work but they can access other resources which may be helpful these range from counselling to developing your skills courses.

Most Job centres will have access to CMP programme which stands for condition management programme, this is an independent programme which can offer individual or group support to manage your health condition, there is no pressure to manage to get you into work. I did a help for health course with them and found it invaluable both for my physical and mental health conditions.

They are not out to catch you out, but provide pointers and support as you feel appropriate. Hope it goes well :)

From what you have said it seems to me that you should be in the Support Group in which case you do not have to attend WFI.
With such short notice it is better to attend with a friend and present the 'evidence' in person.
Shame the devil.

Jules, I appreciate that you are trying to put people at ease, and you are most probably a very decent person, as are the majority of workers in this sector of work.

However, IMO if these government sponsored, profit making bounty hunters were really there to help sick and diasbled people gain employment that they wanted, and was suitable, the "Support" would be there on a totally voluntary basis, and not enforced.

I am afraid the image of these works programme providers, is not enhanced if you read comments on the forums of Indus Delta which is used by works programme providers employees, see indusdelta.co.uk/discussion

Please don't take this as a personal attack, I am criticising the system which allows this to take place.

I am sorry to hear you were made redundant, yet another casualty.

All the best
