Hi, I'm in the Support Group for ESA and am being interviewed for a job. I have realised that if successful then I will be getting £129.60 a week and will not be paying any tax or National Insurance. I have researched this and contacted Job Centre Plus and the National Insurance helpline, but no-one can tell me that by taking this job, if offered, my National Insurance record will be protected by the credits that will be made as my salary will be above the Lower Earnings Level but below the Primary Threshold for National Insurance. I will probably need to apply for Contribution based ESA again in the future and need to know that I would still be eligible.
I hope this makes sense

you need expert advise but i thought that you only pay NI if you earn enough thus being on low income means ther will be none paid unless you work enough hours on low paid and get working tax credits then they might be credited call the ni helpline
