I failed my ESA atos medical in march as the doctor seemed to think i could walk over 200 meters without pain, anyway 2 months later my orthopedic consultant has put me on the waiting list to have a hip replacement for the same disabling condition i applied for esa.
Im currently getting paid at the assessment rate while i appeal and im unsure what to do next.
Basically i want to inform them my condition has got worse since march, i now have a letter stating im awaiting a hip replacement and a report from my consultant that states the pain i have when walking and that i can no undertake employment due to the disabling effects and pain from my hip.
Do i simply fill in a new claim form or as im currently getting paid at the assessment rate do i need to fill in a change of circumstances form or something?
also is the form i need to fill in available online i have just looked for a change of circumstances form and can not fint it
I'm not aware of any change of circumstance form for the work capability assessment.
The simplest thing to do initially would be to write a brief letter to the office dealing with your claim stating that there has been a change of circumstances and setting out what it is.
You should be aware though that it is the distance you are able to walk which is important, rather than whether your specialist thinks you are able to undertake employment. In addition, the WCA changed at the end of March and your ability to propel a manual wheelchair may also now be taken into account.
Good luck,
Steve
